POST104:Never seen this tips before: Best Interview Tips for Jobseekers

Interview Tips for Jobseekers:

Graduating from an institute of higher education marks the beginning of the most productive years of your life. Through the profession you take up, you will contribute to the progress of your field, society and the country, directly or indirectly. But more importantly, it marks the beginning of your career. The choices you make at this stage are crucial because they can decide the course of your career for the rest of your life.

Job search is a stressful experience for any job seeker. It is tougher for fresh graduates, because you do not have work experience that will testify your abilities. So, you have to try extra hard to get the job that gives you the right beginning to your career. Given here are five ways to go about with your job search.

1. Job portals and company websites: Job portals and company websites are traditional time-tested ways of reaching out to employers. Most employers favour these portals to source candidates for their job openings. However, these channels are already flooded with lakhs of resumes, giving the employers too many options to handle. Therefore, there are many chances of your profile being overlooked!

2. Recruitment companies: Recruitment companies are the other conventional routes to prospective employers. Unfortunately, most of them are employer-friendly, rather than jobseeker-friendly. However, a good recruitment company will guide candidates - right from the task of building resumes to taking career decisions and preparing for job interviews.
3. Job aggregators and E-mail alerts: Use keywords to search jobs using job aggregators and set e-mail alerts. These techniques present a plethora of search results with reduced time and effort. Use precise keywords to find the right jobs.

4. Networks: Employers often rely on referrals to fill job openings with them. To be able to tap such opportunities, expand your network of contacts and spread the word that you are looking for a job. Use networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook to get in touch with your seniors, friends and relatives. Tell them that you are looking for a certain kind of job. Request them to recommend your candidature if there are suitable openings in their companies. Make sure that your profile on the sites is always up-to-date.

5. Explore and apply: Do not apply for every opportunity you come across or limit to one or two kinds of job roles. In your first job, your focus should be on learning more than anything else. So, be open to relocate or accept non-competitive salary, if the opportunity is worth it. Tailor you resume to suit the job role for which you are applying. Follow up by getting in touch with the people concerned in the company and demonstrate your interest in the job.

Last but not the least, do not get bogged down by initial rejections. Job search is a learning experience. Therefore, learn from your experiences and try till you succeed.
