POST106: Especially freshers should know: For 2014/2015 Freshers -MSME Talent Mela Candidate Workflow

MSME Talent Mela Candidate Workflow

Stage 1: Employers and Job seekers register online at www.msmetalentmela.com

Stage 2: Employers provide the details of job indents. Candidates whose profiles match the employer’s requirements are sent hall entry tickets.

Stage 3: Two categories of candidates walk into the venue - those who have already registered and those who have to register. Candidates who have registered are sent to the candidate assembly area after verifying their hall entry ticket. Candidates who have not registered are registered at the registration area. Those who match the employer requirements are issued hall entry tickets. The remaining can attend a counselling session or leave.

Stage 4: From the candidate assembly area, candidates are sent for interviews with employers mentioned in their hall tickets. Post interview, shortlisted candidates are issued provisional offer letters.

POST105:Mainly for freshers/Did you Guys know about MSME Talent Mela ???

Did you Guys know about MSME Talent Mela ???

‘MSME Talent Mela’ was presented by the National Institute for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (ni-msme) and the National Small Industries Corporation (NSIC). The MSME Talent Mela was powered by JobsDialog, India’s first mobile-based recruitment solution. JobsDialog is a part of the 23-year old TMI Group which has set several benchmarks in recruitment. The MSME Talent Mela addressed several needs.

The MSME Talent Mela catered to MSMEs who wanted to meet ONLY those candidates who were qualified to work with them. Being a new-age recruitment solution, JobsDialog leveraged technology to transform the Job Fair experience. The shortlisting of candidates based on indents happened even before the MSME Talent Mela. Hence, lot of time spent filtering out irrelevant candidates was saved and the two days at the Job Fair were utilised fruitfully.

MSME Talent Mela proved to be a forum specially designed to tackle the recruitment challenges of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises. It was a platform where MSMEs met and found the right candidates in their organisations for their job vacancies.

POST102:Tips to build winning resume mainly for freshers and All

Tips to build winning resume for freshers and All:

You must have often heard the popular saying, “First impression is the best impression.” Well now, note that your resume is that first opportunity to make the best impression on your prospective employer. It is the channel through which you open conversation with your future boss, for the first time. So, make sure you are at your best! From a fresh graduate to an experienced manager, most people are lost when it comes to deciding what information about themselves they should mention in their resumes. Here is some help.
Interesting Facts!
* A resume parser decides whether or not the recruiting manager should even see your resume.

* The recruiter may spend less than five seconds to go through a resume!
Before you embark on building your resume, be informed that your resume is read by a resume parser and a hiring manager. Therefore, you have to impress them both!Passing the parser test:

To make sure that the parser picks up your resume from the database or a job portal, fill it with key words relevant to the job. For instance, if you are applying for a sales job in a pharmaceutical company, words like sales, business development, marketing, healthcare, product launch, distributor management, sales analysis and customer support can do the trick. You will understand how to use the keywords efficiently after reading this article.
Look to stand out:

In the next stage, a hiring manager, with all this knowledge and experience will assess your resume and decide whether you should even be called for the job interview. The only way to impress him is through thorough research.

Hiring managers are interested in what you know, what you did and what you can do – that is what they look for in your resume. This indicates that you cannot use a standard resume for every job you apply. You have to understand what the manager expects from a person in the specific job role and tailor your resume accordingly. You can do this when you know enough about the organisation and the job role. So, do research.

Go through the company’s website and understand what they do, their goals, values and culture. Read about the company from newspapers, magazines and the Internet. Talk to current and ex-employees of the organisation.
Follow the thumb rules:

After arming yourself with comprehensive information about the company and the job roles, it is time to actually build the resume.

Given below are some quick pointers for the same:

  • Be honest
  • Restrict the resume to only one or two pages
  • Divide the resume into separate sections to talk about work experience, credentials, skills, awards, personal details, etc
  • Mention your name and contact details in the first section of the resume
  • Talk about the current job followed by the previous job or educational qualification; use as many keywords as possible
  • Mention first the details of the highest degree followed by those of lower degrees
  • Focus on achievements rather than responsibilities and aspirations; use keywords
  • Back your assertions with evidence (instead of saying that you are an amazing sales person, mention the targets you have achieved); use keywords
  • Highlight your traits and skills that can be useful to the job; again use keywords
  • Keep the sentences short and simple; use bullet points wherever you can
  • Your resume is all about you; drop the pronoun ‘I’ (Use ‘‘Demonstrated intelligence and tact’ instead of ‘I demonstrated intelligence…’)
  • Do not clutter your resume with colours, special fonts and other embellishments
  • Avoid personal information like marital status, number of siblings or children, hobbies, etc; avoid photographs
  • Run spelling and grammar check before you send the resume to the employer.Resumes can make or mar your prospects of getting short-listed for a job interview. So, take all the care you can while preparing a resume.

DID YOU KNOW :* Resume parser is a technology that allows the screening of resumes in an intelligent way. These days, recruiters receive hundreds and even thousands of resumes for the few job openings they post. It is impracticable to go through all of them. Therefore, they use parsing tools that shortlist only the resumes that have certain Keywords.

POST101: 5 Job Search Tips for Fresh Graduates

5 Job Search Tips for Fresh Graduates

Graduating from an institute of higher education marks the beginning of the most productive years of your life. Through the profession you take up, you will contribute to the progress of your field, society and the country, directly or indirectly. But more importantly, it marks the beginning of your career. The choices you make at this stage are critical because they can decide the course of your career for the rest of your life.
Job search is a stressful experience for any job seeker. It is tougher for fresh graduates, because you do not have work experience that will testify your abilities. So, you have to try extra hard to get the job that gives you the right beginning to your career. Given here are five ways to go about with your job search.
1. Job portals and company websites: Job portals and company websites are traditional time-tested ways of reaching out to employers. Most employers favour these portals to source candidates for their job openings. However, these channels are already flooded with lakhs of resumes, giving the employers too many options to handle. Therefore, there are many chances of your profile being overlooked!
2. Recruitment companies: Recruitment companies are the other conventional routes to prospective employers. Unfortunately, most of them are employer-friendly, rather than jobseeker-friendly. However, a good recruitment company will guide candidates - right from the task of building resumes to taking career decisions and preparing for job interviews.
Interesting Facts!
* Indeed.com is the largest job aggregator collecting job postings from employer websites, job boards, online classifieds and association websites.
3. Job aggregators and E-mail alerts: Use keywords to search jobs using job aggregators and set e-mail alerts. These techniques present a plethora of search results with reduced time and effort. Use precise keywords to find the right jobs.
4. Networks: Employers often rely on referrals to fill job openings with them. To be able to tap such opportunities, expand your network of contacts and spread the word that you are looking for a job. Use networking sites like LinkedIn and Facebook to get in touch with your seniors, friends and relatives. Tell them that you are looking for a certain kind of job. Request them to recommend your candidature if there are suitable openings in their companies. Make sure that your profile on the sites is always up-to-date.
5. Explore and apply: Do not apply for every opportunity you come across or limit to one or two kinds of job roles. In your first job, your focus should be on learning more than anything else. So, be open to relocate or accept non-competitive salary, if the opportunity is worth it. Tailor you résumé to suit the job role for which you are applying. Follow up by getting in touch with the people concerned in the company and demonstrate your interest in the job.
Last but not the least, do not get bogged down by initial rejections. Job search is a learning experience. Therefore, learn from your experiences and try till you succeed.
